Most horse or mule owners would have considered this weekend a Big Flop!  But I PROMISED when starting this Blog that I wouldn't sugar coat anything!  And I stand by that promise.  Both to keep myself honest AND to make sure that folks don't think that raising and training a Mule is super easy and so dang cute!!
Stella is an awesome girl but when she gets a case of the "I Don't Wannas" it is awful!  She loaded right up in the trailer to head to Cle Elum...she travels like a dream, she was super calm and happy when we got to the park and went into the stall without any protest...(If you knew how BIG of a Deal that is....you would be impressed!)
There was loads of activity at the park and several very vocal and hyper horses around.  Stella did GREAT!  Then I messed up.  I got Stella into a situation that got her uber stressed and she took off on me.  She left and headed straight back to her pals and her stall.  She came right back to me when I called her and all was good...but I was devastated. I have been led to believe and CONVINCED that this sort of behavior was a death sentence for a mule...that it could never be corrected and that eventually she would probably kill me!  Then I met some super duper nice ladies at the ACTHA ride that said...NO WAY!  You can fix this and we would be happy to show you how!  I stopped crying and blowing my nose and felt hopeful again.  Stella is such a good girl and I love her so much!  She is awesome and smart and funny and can pick me out of a crowd of people!  I made a big promise to her when I asked her to share her life with us and I intend to keep it!  I will NOT GIVE UP and someday the people that have been so supportive will smile and be proud and the people want us to fail that don't believe that we can are going to look at their boots in shame...We are NOT done!  Not by a long shot!

There is an amazing group of folks here in Washington that do great things for Horsies!!  They are called the Cowgirl Spirit Rescue Drill Team!! http://www.csrdt.org/  They had their 2nd Annual Poker Walk/Ride on Saturday!  Mum is still pretty beat up, so I stayed home and she walked Brody Dog!  Please check out the link for the Rescues!!  See if you can help!

Mum had SO much fun helping out with the Saddle Up Group for the Snohomish Easter Parade!  It was pretty crazy...so she wanted a chance to see what I might see next year! We are hoping to walk together next year!  Mum is planning on making me a really cool black and red outift with sequins and sparkles!!  Then MAYBE I will get to carry Mum the year after that!  Mum came up to ride me after the parade...we worked for about an hour and a half before she got on me..but I decided I did NOT like the new bit that she brought and I left her in the dirt. If you don't like bums or bruises..fast forward or click stop!  Mum has promised from the start that we wouldn't sugar-coat anything and that she isn't afraid of showing her mistakes! That Purple BUTT isn't my fault..it is HER fault and we both know it!  Now that my teeth have been fixed and cleared we are back to basics...but that can't happen until Mum is healed up!! chEARS!!

I am Stella nd I will be three in June!  Lately I've been a little bit cranky.  Nothing major, just not my usual silly self!   I try, but Mum can see that I'm a little off!!  Then Mum rode me on Sunday with a new bit.  Guess what?  I came out from under her and left her in the dust...
So today Mum told me that I had and appointment with Dr. Miller and that she was going to fix my teeth!  That sounded like a GREAT time!  I was so excited when Dr. Miller and her assistant showed up!  They brought all sorts of stuff into the barn!  They were fillin' up buckets and pluggin' stuff in!  And then it got a little weird.  Mum was acting nervous and Dr. Miller came into my stall!  No one but Mum comes into my stall so I was pretty suspicious...Then after some sweet talk and some pettin' and a little bit of grain...WHAM-OH!  I got stuck with a pin in my neck!  It was a little tiny pin but I acted like the world might stop turning any minute.  After a few more pins and some other stuff, I got to feeling REALLY STRANGE!  My legs were rubbery, my head weighed a ton and my eyes were goofy.  I could hear Mums voice talking to me and talking to me.  I was watching her the best I could to make sure she didn't leave me.  Then something went in my mouth and there was water and loud noises and rubbery legs and Mum freakin' out and hands in my mouth and Long Story Short....My dental appointment was over.
Dr. Miller and her friend packed up all the stuff and said Good Bye...( I hope I'm not on their naughty girl list!)  I think I was a "tough customer"..and they may have used the same amount of drugs to sedate an Elephant...but Dr. Miller was too nice to say so....
Mum stayed with me for a long long time.  She thought I would be dopey enough to tolerate a haircut,, but I wouldn't even let her get near me with a pair of scissors.
She and Dads came back 4 hours later to see how I was feeling!  I am still a bit cranky...(I got my shots today too....) but I had a nice dinner and was lots perkier than when Mum left me!
I think I will act like I'm mad at Mum for a few days!  Figure she is wracked with guilt and I can get extra treats for awhile!
But on the plus side I don't have anymore sharp points hurting my gums!!  Mum said something about a Full Cheek Snaffle bit!  Hmmm...wonder what that is all about!?

Mum said that I had to stay home for this one, but she went to check it out for next year!  There were lotsa kids and noise and balloons!  There was even a Pirate ship and a cannon!  Mum sez I can go next year and she will hold my lead rope...then MAYBE I can carry her in a couple of years!!  I love a good parade!! chEARS!!  Oh...Thats Mum in the middle of the banner!  Tough job!

Well, I guess this proves that I'll do most any humiliating thing that Mum asks me to do!!  But while I was embarassed in front of my friends, I was happy to put on the fleece Bunny Ears to wish you and yours a very Happy Easter! It is a time for growth and sunshine!!  Many big chEARS!!
